About Us

Gangadharpur Ramakrishna Sevasram is a non-profit Rural Development Organization dedicated to the upliftment of the underprivileged. Our foundation is built upon the timeless spiritual and social ideals of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.

Our Philosophy and Guidance

We operate under the profound influence of the Bhabdhara (ideals) of the Ramakrishna Movement. Following the discipline and principles established by Belur Math, we believe in the motto: “Atmano mokshartham jagat hitaya cha” — for one’s own salvation and for the welfare of the world.

Our activities are conducted in close association with the Revered Maharajs of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, ensuring that our service remains selfless, transparent, and spiritually grounded.

Our Mission

Our primary focus is Rural Development. We believe that the progress of the nation lies in the progress of its villages. We strive to support those marginalized by society and work tirelessly to bridge the gap between poverty and opportunity.

Core Areas of Work

Social Welfare: Standing beside the “pichiye para manush” (marginalized communities) to provide essential resources and emotional support.
Holistic Development: Implementing programs focused on education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihood for rural families.
Spiritual Harmony: Promoting the universal teachings of the Ramakrishna–Vivekananda movement to foster peace and character-building among the youth.

By treating “Jiva as Shiva” (serving humanity as a form of worship), Gangadharpur Ramakrishna Sevasram remains committed to creating a society where every individual has the dignity and means to thrive.

Our History

The seeds of Gangadharpur Ramakrishna Sevasram were sown long before its formal registration, rooted in the selfless vision of Swami Krishnasudhanandaji Maharaj of Belur Math.

The Early Foundation (Pre-Monastic Years)

Nearly fifteen years before embracing monastic life, Maharaj-ji began his journey of service as a young visionary deeply committed to social welfare. He transformed his ancestral home into a center of community service, bringing together local village students and initiating various developmental activities. From nurturing flower gardens to repairing village roads during the monsoon, his efforts reflected both leadership and compassion.

He personally mentored a group of students, instilling in them the ideals of service, discipline, and strong moral character — values that continue to guide the organization today.

A Sacred Vision

After fifteen years of monastic life and following the passing of his father, Swami Krishnasudhanandaji Maharaj envisioned dedicating his ancestral property to the service of society under the spiritual guidance of Belur Math. Although administrative limitations at the time prevented a direct takeover, the spirit of service remained unwavering.

The Growth of the Movement

In alignment with the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the Vivekananda Adarsha Milan Mandir (VAMM) stepped forward to support this noble mission. Under their guidance, official activities commenced at Gangadharpur on December 8, 2019.

The students once mentored by Maharaj-ji became the pillars of this growing institution, carrying forward his vision with dedication and devotion.

A New Chapter: Formal Registration

With the continued blessings of the Ramakrishna Order and the tireless efforts of its members, the organization achieved a major milestone. On September 6, 2025, it was formally registered as Gangadharpur Ramakrishna Sevasram (GRKSA).

Today, GRKSA stands as a living testament to the vision of Swami Krishnasudhanandaji Maharaj — a bridge between spiritual ideals and rural development, led by those who were once his students and are now the torchbearers of his mission.
